Breast Awareness Month 2022
Every October, countries around the world observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month to raise awareness, early detection, treatment, and palliative care. Breast cancer struck 2.3 million women last year, affecting 685,000.
The majority of deaths (60%) occur in low- and middle-income countries, where women are diagnosed late in the disease's progression and have a poor prognosis.
Developing countries lack the resources needed for preventative screening and adequate treatment, and they are also falling behind in controlling environmental factors that contribute to the development of breast cancer.
Purpose
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed in October each year to raise awareness of the disease. The goal is to involve as many people as possible in raising awareness and funds to support life with life-changing support.
In her lifetime, one in every seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Mammograms are the most effective way to detect breast cancer. It can be easily treated before it has grown large enough to cause symptoms. Because there is currently insufficient knowledge about the causes of breast cancer, early detection of the disease remains the cornerstone of control.
Breast cancer has a good chance of being cured if it is detected early and provided by adequate diagnosis and treatment. However, late detection can lead to the last stage and severe conditions.
Signs and Symptoms
Early breast cancer detection has a better chance of survival. It is recommended by medical professionals to check the breasts regularly and consult a doctor if you notice a change.
Let’s go through some of the signs and symptoms to look for-
1. If you see a lump or a swelling in the breast, upper chest, or armpit, consult your doctor.
2. If you notice any change of color in the breast (it may look red or inflamed), consult your doctor.
3. Dimpling or puckering on the skin should also be consulted with a doctor.
4. Any change in the nipple shape/ direction (like inverted inside) should be consulted with a doctor.
5. Any rash, crusting, or unusual discharge from the breast should be consulted by the doctor immediately.
If your loved one is suffering from the same, we would like to suggest a few must-haves products. For we not only aware people of the cause but help them recover mindfully.
Let’s go through some of the helpful medical products.
Must-Have Medical Products For Breast Cancer Surgery
1. Medical Pillows
One of the most important products, the massage pillow reduces the strain on the neck and provides comforting sleeping positions. Watch television, and eat comfortably in bed with the help of a neck pillow. They increase blood flow and ease the pressure on the lower back. These memory-foam products are a blessing in disguise to many. You can also get arm pillows to relax your limbs.
2. Medical shoes
Medical shoes for women can help you during ongoing doctor visits. The medical footwear will ease your ankle as well as provide slip and fall prevention. Walk freely without the pain, the medical shoes also provide mind therapy (by relaxing your feet).
3. Compression garments
The compression bra/ surgical bra is your way to go - designed for breast cancer survivors, these compression bras provide compression afterward. You may be asked to wear these 24 hours for medical purposes (especially after the post-mastectomy). These bras also provide easy access to doctors to check the breast after surgery (you can get a sports bra front zip).
